Replacement block & tackle balance

Hi there! Thanks for posting. Looks like you have an old crossbow balance. This isn't made anymore, but you can use our Series 795 as a replacement. The process is a bit involved, but the video below will outline the steps you need to follow to get it to work in your window.

Thanks for getting back to us. I'll address each of your points.

• If your sash weight is precisely 23 pounds, then either C or D can work interchangeably. They both cover 23 pounds.
• The Series 795 comes with the 15-195 shoe by default, yes.
• There is no need for a 15-198 top hook on your balance. Referencing our video, you can see that we put a 26-200 screw plug into the square hole at the top, allowing our Series 795 balance to work with its default screw plug.
• You don't want to round up. Referencing our video again, you round down to the nearest inch. Since your original balance is 28-1/2"  long, you want a S795-28.
• If your current pivot bar is damaged, then you will need a new one.

Volume pricing does not cover different balance sizes.

Unfortunately, no. The volume discount only applies to products that are identical. 

As long as the sash weights fall within the given perimeters of the stamp option in question, then it should be okay. However if it's over or under by even a pound, then you need to go up (or down, as the case may be) to the appropriate stamp option. As you said, if a spring is too strong then the sash will be more difficult to close and could even drift up on its own. It's important to be precise.
