Replacing double hung window balance

Quick Learner from North Carolina
I have two windows that can be opened from the bottom or the top, pretty sure that's called double hung, but correct me if I'm wrong. So I am replacing a total of 4 window balances. The balance is 26in long and 1/5in wide. Looking at these pictures, which balance would be a suitable replacement that will keep the top part of the window closed, allow me to open the bottom part, and make it easy to lock the window? Please let me know if you need anymore information.

Hello!

Thanks for reaching out to us. Yes, the window would be a double-hung type if both sashes move up and down. Your balance looks like our Series 795. Our balance uses a screw for installation but this will have to be a custom order since yours uses a hook like the 15-198. However, the metal channel should measure 28" based on your stamp. Can you double-check and confirm that for us?

Can you also confirm the number of balances you're looking to replace? Note that if the windows differ in size, the lengths and stamps will differ so it's a good idea to check them if that's the case.

Thank you for the quick reply! Yes they are 28in  in length and I would need to replace 8 of them.

Sounds good! I've just emailed you a purchase link for (8) S795-28 balances with the 28B stamp and 15-198 hooks attached.

Note that the default shoe that comes with the balances is the 15-195 1-1/4" wide closed cam shoe. We highly recommend you remove an undamaged version to confirm it matches up with this before placing your order. If it doesn't, we'll need to see a photo of a good shoe removed from the window track.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Unfortunately all of the removed shoes are in several pieces. I have one that mostly intact (see photo) and it is 1in wide. However, the numbers on it are difficult to determine and it is quite worn down.

I would also like to say that this piece is 9/16in thick? Is that the right word? (See attached photo)

The T-lock shoe shown here resembles the 15-194 which is 15/16" wide as shown below. This isn't included in the purchase link so you'll have to add it to your cart separately.

Please note that this shoe can't be used with your old metal channels.
