Thanks for writing in! Your tilt latches look similar to our 26-243 and 26-244 tilt window latches. Look over the dimensions and compare them to your existing latches to determine if they are the right fit.

In regard to your coil balances, you have a coil balance assembly that appears to be an older discontinued shoe that is no longer available. For this, we typically recommend our 15-192 Certainteed pivot shoe to replace your Simonton brand part but you may need to shave down the aligners from the shoe to install it into the window. Take a look at the dimensions to confirm if it may work for you.

These are compatible with the Series 170 coil balances as well as the Series 171. The S171 is stacked on top of the S170 in situations where there is more than one coil. The confirm which coil strength you need, you'll need to look for any stamps/markings on the metal coil. If there are no stamps/markings, you'll need to get the window weight and divide it by the total number of coils in the window.

Please also be aware that we are also now recommending the 15-259 pivot shoe, which should fit well in the track, along with the S159 coils springs and the 15-256 double support. To use this assembly, the original pivot bars would need to be replaced with our 26-083. We are still in the early stages of confirming if this replacement is a good long-term solution but we have high hopes that it will work with little need for modifications, if any. Take a look and if you decide to give it a try, we'd be eager to hear how it works out for you.

Be sure to carefully review all of the information to confirm which of these assemblies might be the best solution for your window.

Hi Jasmine - thank you for your help!

I think I will try to go the route of your suggestion:

My question is - what weight coil spring for the s159? On the existing coil spring, there is a stamp of "408 J." After surfing your website, it looks like I may need to get S159-8? Also, should I be getting the 15-255 single coil support as opposed to the 15-256 double?

Finally - do you have any suggestions on window locks and weather stripping?

This is VERY helpful - thank you!

Jasmine from SWISCO responded:

Yes, you are correct. If your balance is stamped with a 408, you'll likely need the S159-8, which will carry a 16lb window. Also, you would need the 15-255 single support, my apologies for the typo.

To confirm a replacement for the lock, the weatherstrip, or any other hardware, I'll need to see photos of them. For the weatherstrip, I'll need to see a piece of it removed from the window, from an end profile view.

A handy person from Massachusetts says:
Hi Jasmine,

Tilt latches, and the suggested pivot shoe worked well. I only had to drill a pilot hole for the pivot bar, but everything fits and works. I will be ordering parts for the remainder of the windows - thank you!

Attached is the lock and weatherstripping I'm looking to replace. Your suggestion on replacement will be very helpful.

Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out! We do not carry an exact match for the sweep lock you are searching for, however, our 90-077A and 90-305 may be worth considering as a replacement. Look over the dimensions for both, especially the installation holes, and compare them to your existing lock to determine if one of these may be a fit.

The compatible keeper for part 90-077A is part 90-177. You would likely need to reuse your existing keeper if part 90-305 would work for you.

In regard to your weather stripping, I believe our 58-183 or our 58-171 are a great place to start. Again, carefully compare the dimensions to your existing strip to confirm that this will work as a replacement for you.

Hi Jasmine,

The 58-183 weather stripping and 90-305 lock, using the original keeper, both worked well. Thank you for your suggestion.

I have two more parts I'm hoping you can help with suggested replacement parts:
- pile weather stripping
- foam filled weather seal

Attached photos are below. Thank you!

For the bubble seal in the first photo and third photo, it is hard to make out the shape of the bubble seal. Would you be able to provide a clearer photo of it?

In regard to the wool pile, it appears that the base measurement is 3/16" but it could also be 7/32". There are a few we carry with these base measurement. Please double check the base measurement and also confirm the height of the pile, this will help to narrow down the recommendations we might have.

It would be best to type the measurements out rather then showing the photo of them so that we can be sure to get the most accurate measurement.

A handy person from Massachusetts says:
Hi Jasmine,

Sure thing, attached is a photo of the bubble seal, it appeared to stand ~1/4" tall.

For the wool pile, 3/16" base and it seems like ~1/4" tall.

Thank you!

Thanks for confirming. In regard to the bubble seal, I recommend taking a look at part 58-156, you'll need to carefully review and compare the dimensions and compare them to your existing part to determine if this may be a fit for you. It is the closest match we have to the specifications you've confirmed.

For the wool pile, take a look at parts 58-002, 58-021, and 58-127. The first two measure 3/16" x 3/16", part 58-127 has a height of 1/4".
