Hello there. This looks like a Series 795 Channel Balance, with a 15-194 1" T-Lock Shoe attached. A few points:

  • You might note our version of the balance has the metal channel facing 'outward', rather than the guts of the balance facing outward like your old balance. Your balance was made a manufacturer that oriented these balances differently; however, using our balances, with the metal channel facing outwards, will work fine for your windows.
  • If the metal channel is 27" long, then you need an S795-27 with a stamp option of 27D. Again, you'll need the 1" 15-194 shoe.
  • One final point here--your balance has a hook on top like our 15-198. This hook attaches to the window track. Our balances uses a screw clip instead. Can you show me the hole in the window where that hook attaches to? That will help narrow down your options. Thanks.

A home owner from Indianapolis, IN says:
Bob,

Thank for your assistance. I think you miss the hook at the top of the balance. The S792-27 needs a screw. Is this the only option or do you have a balance with a hook on the top?

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, this hook was the 15-198 I observed in my last bullet point. As you correctly state, our Series 795 uses a screw tab instead. Can you show me the hole in the window where that hook attaches to? That will help determine the best course of action for your replacement balances. Many thanks.
