Hello! We can find a new handle. How far apart are the centers of the two screw-holes that will be used to mount the handle?

Thanks! Take a look at our 82-035. I think this will work well for you. As for locking mechanism, did you mean the internal mortise lock? If so, our 82-218 is a common choice, but I'm not sure if it will work for you. Look over its dimensions and check the space where it will install to see if they line up.

Ah, I see. Could you show me the hole itself? Are there smaller screw holes above and below the long 10-1/2" long hole? If so, I'd like to know the distance between them, center-to-center.

Thanks! I'm not sure how they intended you to install a mortise lock without screws. Maybe there was some kind of insert that went into this hole, then the mortise lock would install in that insert. These don't just pop into a hole. Pretty much every mortise lock I know of has to be screwed in.

Another possibility is that whoever made this door simply never prepared holes for a mortise lock even on the factory floor. That means you could probably use one of ours, but you'd have to drill new holes for it to install.

The problem is, we don't have a mortise lock that has a perfectly 10-1/2" tall body. We have the 82-260, which has a kind of deep set face plate. The two screw tabs extend on either side to a total length of 12-1/2", but the inset is approximately 11". That might be too big. 

Then we have the 82-265, which has a face plate height of 11-3/4", but the inset is approximately 10". That's a little too small, but maybe you can still work with it. You'd have to drill the holes 11" apart, center to center, as you can see on our measurements. 

Sorry we couldn't offer a more reliable suggestion! These are the two best ideas I have, but I cannot guarantee either will work.
