Window channel balance?

Quick Learner from Illinois

I have 6 of these that have broken off the windows. The only marking is 27B on the back. They are all the same size with the same type of swivel connection that attaches it to the window. The length is 27 inches on each, not including any plastic.

Can these be replaced? If so, the cost for each one? Also, do you have any instructions to install?

Thanks

Patrick

Hi there Patrick.

Thanks for reaching out to us. This appears to be the Series 795 channel balance. Our part uses a screw to install at the top of the window track but you have the 15-198 hook for installation which means this must be a custom order.

I'll email you a purchase link and price quote for (6) S795-27 balances with the 27B stamp and 15-198 hook attached. The 15-195 shoe comes attached by default.

We don't have instructions but take a look at the video below. Starting at the 3:15 mark we show how to install this type of balance. Instead of screwing to the top of the window, your balance will hook in the hole with the 15-198

Keep in mind that your old balance was, for whatever reason, installed backward. I'm not sure why the installers did this but many did at the time. Our S795 has the exposed spring side of the channel pressed against the jamb, not facing out toward the house.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Good morning,
I am looking to re-order (2) more 27B Series 795's with the 15-198 hook attached. The photos from 2024 are the same balances that I am looking for replacements on now. Thank you!
