balance rods for 25 year old windows

Home Owner from Goshen NY

26" overall length, springs is ~13.5".  It's a square channel and i need around 6 of these.  One window both sides broke, others only only side.  The third picture where the window locks in seem ok, just the channels where the ropes have broken.

Do you have replacements for these?

I am trying to fix some long nagging problems and replacement weather stripping on all windows that i got from you folks.  Saw the balance rods and thought maybe I could ge these windows all back to working order.

Thank you,

ds

Hello,

Thanks for your post! This window balance is likely to be the Series 770 Channel Balance. Although, yours appears to be missing the bottom attachment, so I'm just a bit skeptical. Are you able to find an undamaged balance?

I'll also need to know the stamp/marking from the metal channel.

The shoe, inside the window track, reminds me of the 15-129 Pivot Shoe. I am certain this should be a match but you'll need to carefully compare the dimensions below.

Jasmine,

Thank you for your reply.

I was able to find a marking on the track, it says 26C.  Picture attached. I also loaded an undamaged side and shows the string coming from the track to the shoe.

On the shoe itself, I can only measure while it's in the track, but approximate them to be 2" long, 1" wide. None of these have failed so I am reluctant to try and remove them.

The string from the track broke, not the show. Pic attached.

Thanks for the additional photos. You'll need the S770-26 with a 26C stamp. It appears your balances install using a screw, at the top. These will come ready to install.

In regard to the shoe, you'll need to remove it from the track and measure to confirm that this is the right replacement. I'm confident they should be a match but the only way to know will be to compare the dimensions.

I do understand the skepticism but the alternative would be making the purchase and then finding out they aren't a fit when completing the installation.

Please let me know if you have any other hardware repair questions!

Understood on the shoe.  Think I might order a track and attach to an existing shoe.  They seem fine, but a little dirty.

Thank you!

Okay, perfect! That should be fine for the repair, so long as they are in good working condition.

We do have video tutorials below with instructions on removing/installing them, in the event you might need to replace them.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any other hardware repair questions you might have!
