help - which pivot bar?

Home Owner from New Orleans
hi there, in the last few weeks I finally understood what is going on. Probably because I a) got 1 window unstuck and tilted it to clean, 2) finally realized what that thing was that broke a while ago.. They are metal windows and living in NOLA, we get lots of humidity and heat - thinking they just reached end-of-life and broke (see image of the little stubs). The windows are fine and so I think with new pivot bars, I can continue to use the windows for many fine years. Help! which pivot bars to buy?

Thank you!! I will need a total of 5, unless they are in both sides of the windows - I have 3 broken ones on the left side only.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for posting. Yes, it does look like you need new pivot bars. There are many different kinds, as you can see from our selection here. It's possible you might need something like the 26-040, but I'd feel better seeing an undamaged version removed from the window for firmer confirmation. See the guides below that show how to remove and replace pivot bars. We'll do our best to assist you from there.

Thanks for getting back to us. These photos are helpful, but it seems we don't sell an exact match for this pivot bar. One of ours may still work, but it's going to come down to size, specifically hole placement.

Your next step should be to measure the distance between the center of the screw hole to the front tip of the pivot bar. By "front tip" I mean the end that goes into the pivot shoe. I can then see if we have anything that aligns.

here's a picture with the measurements. thoughts?

I'm sorry to say that your tape measure here isn't enough to garner a precise hole placement. You will need something more accurate. If possible, please also write the dimension down for us to review, as a photo of a tape measure is not always clear.

hole seems to start at 1.5inch from end
hole 1/8th diameter
bar width 1/4 inch
bar height 1/8 inch
square edges all around

Thank you for checking. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we sell any pivot bar that fits these specifications. The only product we sell with a 1-1/2" hole set back from the front tip is our 26-089, but the tip size is 5/16" wide by 3/16" tall, which is too big.

We do sell the 26-297. The bar on this is about the same size as the 26-089 but tapers down to 1/4" by 3/16". However none of its holes are set 1-1/2" back, so if this would work at all you would have to drill a new one. Plus, because the body tapers instead of being a consistent 1/4" wide, it may not fit in the sash to begin with.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
