Thanks for posting! Before I can offer an applicable replacement for this channel balance, I just need to know a bit more information about the bottom attachment. Please take a look at our 15-004 and 15-005 channel balance shoes, and note their depths. As you can see, they are 1-3/32" deep and 1" deep, respectively. Which one more closely matches your own bottom attachment?

Good morning Tom,
Thanks for the responce. We had put the channel balance back in the window so my question is can we order the balance bar and the two different ends and install the proper end when we take the window out to do the repair or is it better to have the end installed at the factory? Looking at the pictures it looks like the ends are stablized with a rivet. I do have a rivet gun, if the rivet comes with the end. If it really is better to have it installed at the factory we will be glad to take the window out to measure the end piece. Thanks again for the help!

Thanks for posting. There's no problem at all with installing the shoe yourself. We actually have a tutorial video that details the best method on replacing a channel balance attachment. You can see it here.

However, our channel balances do not come without attachments as a standard option. This type of balance would require a custom order. Let me know how you wish to proceed. If you were to give me the depth of your bottom shoe, though, I can simply tell you what Series you need right now. Let me know!

Good morning Tom,
We finally pulled the window out again and it is 1&3/32. So based on your post above, I'll order the 004. Another question please, based on your experience, what other parts should we replace? Also since Florida is humid and metal doesn't like moisture, should we lube anything. Thanks!!!

You may not necessarily have to replace anything else, but there are a few parts on your window that you should give a thorough once over just to make sure that they're in good condition. Check out the take out clips first -- they should look like our 16-002 and are located in the jamb -- and make sure that they're working correctly. Then, I'd look at your top sash guides, which can be found on the top corners of the sash. If these break, your balance will shoot up past your sash and it will be a pain to get it right again, so it's definitely a good idea to make sure they're in good condition.

OK Tom, I think I am ready to order. I plan on ordering your #S385-30. With the option 2920 for the 12.5lbs & 2930 for 20.5lbs. Do you agree based on the above post, pictures and these weights? Thanks!! Cindy
