possible coil balance assembly
Hello there. I am confident we can help, but I am afraid this isn't enough information to go off of to identify the coil balance system. I will list the 3 things we'll need from you to identify this.
- You must remove the coil balance system from the window so we can see the entire assembly, especially the pivot shoe the coil springs attach to. The identity of the shoe determines the coil spring identity.
- We'll need the thickness of the coil springs in that carrier case you show in your photos. They should e either 1/2" or 3/8" thick.
- We'll need the exact weight of the window sash the coil springs support. Placing the sash on a bathroom scale should suffice.
From there we should be able to narrow down all you need. To understand how to remove and replace a system like this, see the video below.
Thanks for getting back to me. This looks like a 15-228 Pivot Shoe. It works with either 1/2" thick Series 160 Coil Balance springs, or the 3/8" Series 165 springs, both sold separately. It looks like you have the 3/8" thick springs; double-check to be sure. If so, and for a sash that weighs exactly 19 pounds, you can use the S165-4 4 pound spring and S165-5 5 pound spring, one each on each side of the sash. That gives you 9 pounds of support on either side of the window sash, for a total of 18 pounds of support--being within 1 pound of the actual sash weight works just fine. For new double covers that work with the 3/8" springs, see the 15-204.
All these parts can be ordered right through the online store. Let me know if you have further questions.
There is no issue in going from three to two coils. That really doesn't matter--you just need the proper amount of spring weight support on both sides, so that overall you are within 1 pound of the exact sash weight. See the video below. It will also be easier to install a double-coil system than a triple, in my experience.
Unfortunately no, this particular balance system is modular and each part is sold separately.
