screw plug replacement

I have a circular hole. What do I use to for that? The 26-200 Screw Plug is the wrong shape.

Thanks for posting. Are you looking for screw plugs used with Series 795 balances? Assuming that's so, did your window originally use these screw plugs? Or did your balances attach to those circular holes with hooks like our 15-198? If so, and if your Series 795 balances has the 15-198 hooks, we'll instead need to supply you balances with these hooks attached. This is not a stock item but we'd be happy to supply it to you via custom order. We'd just need to know the following:

  • The stamp on the old balances
  • A good picture of the bottom T-Lock shoe on the balances
  • A picture of the top hook, just to be safe.

If you are by chance looking for something entirely different from what I just outlined, please send pictures of the old part in question, as well as the hole, and we'll try and figure out something better.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I have one window that is a 28D and another window that is a 26C. Clip on the top that inserted (hung) in the hole.
I have attached photos.

Thank you for these photos! This verifies that there's nothing you can do to get the 26-200 screw plug to work. They don't make a round version of this part (I wish!) so you will need to replace the balances with a new custom assembly.

As outlined above, I believe you need a Series 795 with a 15-198 top hook and what looks like a 1" wide 15-194 bottom shoe. Knowing the two different stamps is also a huge help. Can you just verify how many of each size you needed?

I will need 4 total of the 15-198 top hook. I have two windows that need to be replaced. Will you send me a video on how to install the hook? I think I have ordered everything else correctly.

Thank you

Amy

I'm sorry for the confusion. The plan is to send these balances out to you pre-assembled, so they'll be ready to install out of the box. There's no need to assemble it whatsoever.

If you just wanted to order the 15-198 by itself and do the repair that way, then that's also a viable option if you wished. We don't have a video on how to install the 15-198 clip, but the process is straight forward. I'll do my best to describe it.

The first step is to extend the cord out of the metal channel enough to be able to secure it in a bench vice. This is necessary, since the cord is under constant tension and will snap out of your hands if you don't have a firm grip of it. The bench vice makes this very easy.

Once the cord is secured, simply untie the old clip and tie the new 15-198 in place. Hold the cord firmly with your hand as you release the vice so that it doesn't shoot back into the channel. You want to slowly let it retract. Your balance would then be ready for installation.

Hopefully this information helps! If you did want to proceed with new custom balances entirely, just let me know and I'd be happy to move forward with that.

Pre assembled would be great! I will need one set for a 28D window and one set for a 26C window.

Let me know if you need my payment information.

Thanks,

Amy

Great, sounds like a plan. I'll go ahead and email you a custom order link and price quote that will let you add 2 of each size to your cart. You can then checkout as normal.

To reiterate, these will be the S795-28 and S795-26 channel balances, with a 28D and 26C stamp, respectively. They will each be modified to use the 1" wide 15-194 pivot shoe and 15-198 top hook, which we will install in our shop before we ship them out. That way they'll be ready to go in your window out of the box.

Please let me know if you had any questions about this configuration or if you wanted to make any changes. Custom balances are non-refundable, so definitely give your old balances a once over just in case we missed something important.
