soft-lite balance parts and foam plugs

Home Owner from Sheboygan, WI

I have vinyl Soft-Lite double-hung tilt-in windows. Can you identify the part numbers for the 3 photos attached? The balance assembly is stamped with "Patent number 5,353,548".

The silver bars measure 2 13/16 x 4/16

If you sell the balance assembly, do you have an installation video or instructions?

Lastly, is the foam plug in the correct place on the window? Most of mine are missing. Is it important to replace them?

Thanks for posting! I'm sorry to say we would not be able to supply you with a replacement for the foam plug you have here. They're not necessary for the function of the balance assembly but they can help to keep bugs and debris out. They can also help with keeping the air in. You should be able to find it at a local hardware store; the foam can be cut to size.

Your coil balance assembly appears to use the 15-087 Coil Housing Pivot. To confirm if this is the correct fit for your repairs, take a look over the dimensions below and compare them.

This housing is compatible with the Series 180 Coil Balance. To determine which coil you need to complete the assembly, you'll need to look for any stamps/markings on the coil. If there aren't any, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash and divide it by the number of coils in the window. This will give you the spring strength you need. For example, if you have a 16lb sash, you would need to purchase 8lb coils.

The pivot bar you have can likely be replaced with either our 26-040 or 26-089 pivot bars. The length of each of them is 3", but that should not affect the installation, so long as one of the installation hole matches up. Take a look at the diagrams below to confirm.

Thank you for the information.

Some of my other windows have the balance pictured below. Do you carry this part?

The housing at the bottom of this assembly would be the same 15-087 Coil Housing Pivot. The housing attached to the top of it would be the 15-086 Tandem Coil Housing.

Like the housing pivot, the tandem housing uses the Series 180 Coil Balance.
