window balancer double hung
We should be able to help you with this balance assembly, but it's not possible to ID based on these photos. We require seeing it removed from the window in its entirety. I need a clear photo of the cover, springs, and pivot shoe that the springs attach to. That will allow us to find a match in our inventory.
Thank you! This shoe appears to match our 15-111. This is designed to be compatible with either the 3/8" Series 165 or the 1/2" Series 160. You'll need to measure your old spring to verify the better option.
If you have the 3/8" Series 165, see our 15-204 double spring cover. If you have the 1/2" Series 160, see our 15-150D double spring cover instead.
Great, thanks! That would be our Series 165 spring, 15-111 shoe, and 15-204 double spring cover.
To choose the proper weight rating for the Series 165, just refer to the stamp printed on the old spring. If there is no stamp, or it's too faded to read, then you're going to have to do some extra work.
The proper method of determining spring strength is to weigh the sash on a scale and then divide that by how many springs support it; in your case, 4. So for example if the sash is 20 pounds, you would divide that by 4 to get 5. That means you need two 5 pound springs on each side.
