window coil issues

Home Owner from Ferndale, MI
Hello!
Both sides of my window coils snapped and now my window will not stay up. I am pretty sure that I have identified:
CertainTeed Lance Spring Cover, Wide
15-156
and
CertainTeed Balance Drum
15-157

My coil does not have a stamp with numbers, but does have an "E" on it. Can you help me identify that and the other bottom part? My sash is 13lbs

Hi there!

I'm afraid the parts you picked out aren't compatible with your old springs. Your shoe is no longer available but the 15-177 can replace it. The compatible springs are the Series 152 which are designed to use the 15-143 bushing, 15-144 bushing cap, and 15-145 barrel. These parts "sandwich" around each spring.

Since the sash is 13-pounds, you can use one S152-7 7-pound spring on each side of the window. This will total 14 pounds of overall support which should be fine so long as the coil weights total within a pound of the sash's actual weight.

Thanks, Emily. You are lovely. Is there a graphic or video on how to assemble the bushing, cap, and barrel around the spring since I don't have those parts currently to reference? I am ordering today.

You're too kind! I'm happy to help.

We don't have a video or graphic but I'll try to explain it as best as I can! Lay the 15-143 bushing flat on a table, place the 15-145 barrel inside of the bushing, then you'll put the coil spring over the barrel. The 15-144 cap then snaps onto the 15-143 bushing to sandwich the spring. I hope this helps!
