one of the photos I sent you shows the arm length as 7 1/2 in. or near that and you gave me info saying the arm is 9 1/2. Will that work for my application

We measure the arm differently than shown in your photo so it can be hard to make out accurate dimensions. However, if you're confirming the arm measures 7-1/2", see the 39-254E and 39-255E. The base is rounded since it's a modern style.
