Balance and Pivot Shoe Help

Question

Hi, I recently purchased replacement balancer and pivot shoes for my window.

19" Series 765 Balance S765-19 (option 18-3)
Pivot Shoe, 1/2" Thick 15-046

It looks like the balance slides into the channel without issues and seems to be a good replacement. The pivot shoe I purchased is not the same and was hoping it will work, but it's not able to slide into the channels. Do you have pivot shoes that will work with S765-19 balance? Sorry, I don't have the actual original part and the pictures are from another similar window in the house.

Hi Dave. The Series 765 Channel Balance typically uses the 15-046 Pivot Shoe, although there are certainly exceptions. That said, did this window originally use a Series 765, or were the old balances more like what you show in your photos of the other window? I ask because if this window also originally had those crossbow-type balances, then the Series 765 is not going to be the right replacement for you; quite simply, it's unlikely you're going to find a pivot shoe that inserts into the jamb track, and even if you do, there's no guarantee this system will hold up. In general, it's best to stick with as close to the original balance Type as possible. We no longer supply crossbow balances, but they can be replaced by the Series 795 Channel Balance. You'll note that they have the same T-Lock Shoe that the crossbow balance in your photos has. See the video below for more details.
