Channel Balance Help

A home owner from SC says:
no name of company on window, does not slide up and down. Strings were broken on this slider (name?) and the other side of the window had nothing. I was told by a vendor who repairs fogged windows that all I need to do is replace 2 parts.

Thanks for writing in. This is called a channel balance; specifically, this looks like our Series 795 Channel Balance, with a 15-198 Hook attached at the top. Before being able to identify exactly what you need, could you give us a little more information? First, I need to see a picture of the T-Lock Shoe at the bottom of the balance that still has the metal cam intact; does the other balance in the window still have an intact shoe we can see? Finally, can you show us a picture of the slot in the window track that the hook on top of the balance attaches to? From there, we'll get this going for you. Many thanks.

I have a picture of a shoe from the other side of the window (the only thing in the channel) along side the balance that is out of the other channel with a shoe that is missing the center metal piece.

Thanks for the reply. OK, this is exactly what we needed to see. First off, our standard Series 795 balances screw into the window track, rather than use a hook as your old balance does. We could custom make a Series 795 with the right hook attached; however, this will not be necessary in your case. The square shape of the slot your old balances hooks into can accept our 26-200 Screw Plug. You pop this plug into that square slot, then screw the balance right into the plug! So be sure to purchase the 26-200 along with each balance you need.

As far as your balance goes, just confirm that your old balance's metal channel is 34" long, not including the bottom shoe. If it is, then the S795-34 is what you're looking for. You'll need a stamp option of 34B. If your T-Lock Shoe is 1-1/4" wide, then you should be good using the shoe that comes installed by default with the S795-34 (our 15-195). Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your help, the part has been replaced by a local window contractor.
