Simonton Tilt Single Hung

Contractor from Orange County CA
I have a tilt single-hung window with V-grooved IG units. The Sash weighs 29 1/2 pounds. It has an unusual triple-balance assembly with three individual coil supports connecting to the the T-bar tilt shoe. Only the bottom coil spring has a number 9 on it and the sash weighs 29 1/2 pounds. If I order your triple balance support the mounting holes will not line up. Can I place your balance springs in the old support with a new shoe? Let me know, thanks!

Please notice the bumper cushion on the bottom support. All three supports are separate but are assembled together in the frame. The coil springs are 1/2" wide. The shoe is 1 1/4" wide by 1 7/16 high by 1/2" thick. These spring systems designs are destined to fail with so much spring pressure.

Hello, thank you for posting,

Please review the 15-199 pivot shoe that is compatible with the 1/2" Series 160 coil springs.

You could reuse your original supports, but the new triple support 15-150T only uses one installation hole.

If you want to stick to your three coil set up, you could use (2) S160-5 coils and (1) S160-3 coil on each side of the window.

If you want to switch to two coils, you could use (2) S160-7 coil springs on both sides of the window using the 15-150D double support.

As long as you are within a pound of the total weight, the sash should be supported.

Let me know what you think!
