I have been reading through the customer service threads and first of all I must say you guys are simply amazing at customer service.
Now, I have simonton single hung windows. The coils are going haywire. I believe the 15-199 is the shoe, and 15-204 "was" the cover and S165-5 seems to look right also. Should I redo them all because the coils aren't together via the locking system as the videos instruct to assemble them together. They are both attached to the shoe. Could that have led to the coils going haywire? Also the coils are different; one has more band below the cutout than the other. Was this wrong initially? When I purchase coils should I get identical ones and attach coils together? Thank you for any information you can provide!

Thanks for posting, and for your praise. It means a lot to hear that.
As for your balance system, I agree with your assessment of replacement parts. These all look to match what you have. There's a good chance your springs went haywire simply because they got old and wore out. Based on your pictures, everything looks to be assembled correctly. As for the spring with the square cutout in a different spot, that'd be our Series 160 spring. Some balance systems that use the Series 160 and Series 165 have them sort of "piggy back" off one another, with the "T" tab on the top spring going into the slot on the bottom spring, and so on if there are more than two. Does that make sense? In your case, I'm not sure how relevant it is, but I would stick with what you had originally just in case.
