Two, faulty Constant Spring balance assemblies

Contractor from Derbyshire, England
Hi.  Appreciate some advice/guidance with regards to replacing/repairing two spring balance assemblies, removed from a plastic sliding sash window (the sash incidentally weighs approximately 55lbs). I assume the stamp on the springs themselves (close to the fixing hole)refers to the weight, there's just one that is marked 90, confused! Appreciate some help!

Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out to us. We don't sell a 1:1 match for this coil balance assembly. However, take a look at the 17/32" thick and 1-1/4" wide pivot shoe as a potential alternative. The 1/2" Series 160 and 3/8" Series 165 are the compatible springs. You will also have to divide the precise sash weight by the total number of springs in the window to determine the proper spring weights. Review the specifications and see how they compare with yours.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Hi Emily!  Thanks for reply, regarding replacement coil balance parts. So assuming I replace the coil assemblies on both sides ie 2x 15-199 pivot shoes.how do I choose replacement series 160 springs (28lb per side, are they chosen by descending weight )and I assume a replacement housing.  Hope that makes sense.  Steve

For 28-pounds of support on each side of the window, you could use two S160-09 9-pound springs, one S160-04 4.5-pound spring, and one S160-05 5.5-pound spring per side. This would total 56 pounds of overall support. For a new compatible quad support, see the 15-150Q

I'm here if you have any further questions!
