Vinyl Window Balance Spring

Quick Learner
To Whom It May Concern,

I was wondering if you can help me with the balance spring for my 7000 series vinyl windows. I have attached an image of the type of balance spring I need.

Thanks

Hello!

We should be able to help with this but I will need more information. Can you show us a photo of your pivot shoe removed from the window? That will allow me to narrow down your options.

Attached is the pivot shoe you asked for.

Thanks,

Thank you kindly! Our 15-199 which uses the 1/2" Series 160 and 3/8" Series 165 is my recommendation. You'll have to measure the width of the coil spring band to determine which Series is best for your repair. Take a look and let me know if you have any questions!

In that case, you would want the Series 165. I recommend checking the band of the spring for a stamped code that indicates the weight. If there aren't any, you will need to divide the sash weight by the total number of springs in the window to determine the proper spring weights.

I didn't see the stamped code with the weights. I think there's a total of 4 springs (2 on each side).

If you can get back to me with the precise sash weight, I can calculate what you'll need from there.

The sash weight is 18.7 lbs

Thanks for confirming! We recommend using (1) S165-4 4-pound spring and (1) S165-5 5-pound spring on each side of the window. 9 pounds of support on each side would total 18 pounds of overall support. This should work for you so long as the coil spring weights are within a pound of your sash's actual weight. If you need a new double coil spring support, see the 15-204
