Vinyl window balance / lift spring

A quick learner from Illinois says:
Looking for plastic housing with spring/coil steel that assists in lifting vinyl window sash and keeping it up. Housing is screwed to jam in upper side of frame and has steel coil that attaches to plastic guide at bottom side of window sash. photos show a good part, a broken part, the attach point and the info I can find on the windows. Unknown mfr. Thanks in advance.

Hi there!

See our 15-199 pivot shoe, which uses the 1/2" wide Series 160 and 3/8" wide Series 165 coil springs. Take a look and see if our dimensions match up to your old hardware.

It's hard to tell but I think you might have a triple coil support. Please correct me if I'm wrong! If you do and the springs are 3/8" wide, see the 15-205. If they're 1/2" wide, see the 15-150T instead.

Thanks for the info. Not sure how many coils they are. I did learn that they are Siminton Windows from Windoor Company, Inc., if that helps.

To my eye it looks like you might have three springs per side, but the only way to know for sure is to remove the original assembly and count them. You'll have to remove it anyway so that you can measure the width of the band and get the appropriate stamp.

I know you probably didn't want to remove the old assembly until you had a replacement on hand, but I'm afraid there's no way to avoid that. It has to be done to ensure that you get the right hardware for the job.
