Simonton triple coil balance assembly
As shown in the photos, the plastic portion of many of the pivot shoe holders has cracked in the center. Some have separated completely in half.
As also shown, several of the coil holders have broken, allowing the lower coil to fall.
The inside of the tracks for the balances measures approx. 1/2" deep and 1 1/4" wide. The covers over the triple coil holders are approx. 4" long.
My best guess form the Swisco catalog is that the pivot shoe holders can be replaced with 145-111 or 15-191. Is this correct? Are these the two Swisco parts interchnageably, just onme suitedm for heavier windows or heavier use, or is there some other difference?
I assume this will require replacing the pivot pins with 26-083 pivot bars. Correct?
I'm most uncertain aboiyt the triple coil holders. 15-150T? 15-205? Something else?
I hastily ordered, and promptly received, the wrong Swisco parts, based on your video at https://www.swisco.com/videos/view208 and without checking my windows closely. My error. I want to get the correct part numbers so I can excahnge or re-order.
Hey there,
Thanks for writing in! The shoe in your window appears to be a closer match for the 15-199 Pivot Shoe, which uses the 26-378 Pivot Bar\. Be sure to compare each of their dimensions to confirm that these are the right replacements.
The shoe is compatible with either the 1/2" wide Series 160 Coil Balance or the 3/8" wide Series 165 Coil Balance. To determine which series is needed for your assembly, you'll need to confirm the width of your coil.
The cover will depend on the coil series you need. The S160 uses the 15-150T and the S165 uses the 15-205.
Once you've confirmed the thickness, take a look at the video tutorial below for instructions on how to select the coil springs.
