A quick learner from clayton nj says:

Good morning! I need 2 of the double spring loaded balancers. I need 2 of the single spring loaded balancers and 6 of the pivot bars. Ron  thank you.

Thanks for posting. This is an older coil balance system that is no longer made. The good news is that we have a replacement option that we think has a good chance of working. It's no guarantee, but I think it's worth considering.

See our 15-199. This appears to be our best candidate. It's 17/32" thick by 1-1/4" wide and is compatible with our 1/2" thick Series 160 spring. It's also meant to be used with either our 15-150S, 15-150D, or 15-150T cover depending on how many springs are used in each side. It looks like you only have one spring per side, so 15-150S is what you'd want.

It's important to note that the Series 160 doesn't screw to the 15-199 pivot shoe, but instead kind of hooks in with that tab. That's my biggest concern, but as long as the width and thickness of your shoe match ours, and as long as the thickness of the spring is the same, then it should be okay.

The other concern is the pivot bar. The 15-199 is compatible with pivot bars with a "T" shaped tip like the 26-378. In your case, however, you have something more like the 26-396. To be safe, I had one of our colleagues at our warehouse test this pivot bar with the 15-199, and it does indeed work with it, so I believe this is what you need. Just look over the dimensions to confirm.

Look for stamped numbers on the coil springs. If there are none, or you are uncertain, obtain the exact weight of each window sash, and I can tell you precisely what springs you'll need.

A quick learner from clayton nj says:
Hi Bob, There are no markings on the coil springs. The larger sash weighs--24.2 lbs. The smaller sash weighs--11.6 lbs. thank you, Ron.

Hey Ron. Assuming the Series 160 1/2" springs match what you need, note the following:

  • For the 24.2 lb sash, use on each side of the sash (1) S160-6 6.5 lb spring and (1) S160-5 5.5 lb spring. This would equal 12 lbs of support on either side of the sash, for a total of 24 lbs of support of overall, which is close enough to your exact sash weight.
  • For the  11.6 lb sash, use on each side of the sash (1) S160-5 5.5 lb spring. This will equal 11 lbs of overall support, close enough to your exact sash weight of 11.6 lbs.
