Product Description

This is a Series 170 spring for tilt windows. It moderates the operation of your window sash using a specifically calibrated coil spring that allows the window sash to stay open when raised and remain shut when closed.

Individually, this coil balance can hold 6 pounds. This is added together with the other coils to support the whole weight of the sash.
This coil is stamped with number 406.
Measures 3/4" thick.
Designed to work with the 15-192 pivot shoe (sold separately).
This coil balance spring is sold individually, not in sets.
Can work for either the left or right side of the window interchangeably.
Coil balances are also known as constant force window balances.
Has a short tongue, meant to install on the bottom of a pair of coil balances or as the only coil balance in a system.
This constant force balance is used in CertainTeed double hung windows.

Good Idea!

For best results, replace window balances in pairs (though sold individually). An old balance will overwork a new one, causing faster wear and uneven operation. Paired replacement ensures optimal, lasting performance.

Hello! Looking for a replacement Pivot Lock Shoe for these windows (you can see it has broke at the bottom in photo) and believe that #15-192 is the correct part. Balance springs are #406 and the measurements appear correct. Just wanted to make sure before ordering. Thanks!

Hello, I'm trying to find out exactly what parts to order to replace the complete assembly on both sides of the window. I've attached pictures of the pivot shoe, the coil housings (M8637MXX), and the coils. One coil has "SA 406 500" imprinted on it and the other has "LA 406 500". ... (cont.)

the 409 is for a weight of 9lbs. we need this reference 170 409 to 9lbs, but we also need to 12lbs and 14lbs. It is possible?

Hello, i have vinyl replacement windows from the previous owner. I have no idea what brand the windows are. I can not find labels anywhere. Both coil balancer coils have broken. I weighed the window and it is about 20 pounds.
