S377-19 19" Series 377 Channel Balance

I ordered replacement channel balances - 19", series 377, 1840 - but have two questions: 1) Is it OK that the replacement is 1/2" longer? Exactly the same otherwise, including the number stamp. 2) How do I get the tabs on the side of both the top and foot pieces in the channel slot for them? ... (cont.)

I'm planning to repair my "no tilt" sash window (Pan Am channel balance replacement).The two problems that I have are:The lenght of the metal of such balance is 18.5" and also the guides are winged...so the questions are:how to order base on the size 18.5" or 19"? and how to install back the channel ... Looks like I need a series 377 channel balance. But the length of the metal balance is 18.5", which I don't see you listing. Can you make me balances with the 18.5" length? I believe this is a Panam window, 30 years old. The balancer has 1810 stamped on it.
