Concerning the S190-640
Is the S190-640 a 6 lb spring? Also, how long is it? I have several coil balance springs that need replaced on double hung windows 32 x 62h and want to be sure these springs are long enough. The tallest window is 32" x 66h which I calculate will take two 640's on each side. The detents seem OK o ... (cont.)

Do I have a S140 type balance
I attempted to order a replacement coil balance for my window but it is a two-coil and what I ordered was a single coil. I have attached photos of the balance. I have included several pictures including one with the '9' shown on the coil. Window size is 34 1/4 x 33 5/8. Any recommendations? Ther ... (cont.)

Complete parts list for coil balance system?
I need to order coil balances. I know I need shoe #15-180, spring #S190-640 (2 for each shoe, I assume), clip #15-181, screw #33-072 (2 per shoe, right?). Broken coil balance
I had a window made by MI Windows and Doors, Inc. and the coil balance was broken and could not hold the opened windows. The window is MI 8500 series (WxH 85in x 75in). How can I identify the right coil balance parts from yours and replace with the broken ones. Your help is greatly appreciated. ... (cont.)

540 vs. 640
The window manufacturer is balancing out the weight of the window with one heavy and one lighter spring. You should replace exactly what you have. The 640 is stronger than the 540.
