Removing the old 26-362 vent latch

I have ordered a few of these and need to replace this vent latch on an existing window...What is the best was to get the old one out..

Can the 26-362 be used on new applications?

My windows do not currently have a "vent" lock. Is this the right product for me? I had replacement windows put into an old house that camr with vent locks. Looking for window sash lock replacements

I have 2 of these that have failed (stay in the pop out position). I believe my windows are Andersen but i can't find any markings on them to confirm.

Vent Latch

The back of the lock says "pat pend" and "6". I have triple pane, gas filled, unframed windows.

This llittle part fits into the lower frame of the sliding window to prevent it from opening more than a few inches. Only mark says patent pending
