This is from an aluminum window. The metal piece goes into the plastic guide and then there is a balance spring has two wires that connects to the plastic guide. When you open the window the metal piece turns inside the plastic guide. It was so hard to turn that it bent the metal piece. ... (cont.)

The window wasnt going down and was jammed on the left side. I took the window off and saw the white part like in my 2nd picture was broken apart. I unscrewed it and it broke further when it snapped down to the shoe area.

I have a window world window that a tenant removed the balance from.. the coil, shoe everything. The window measures about 32 inches. I included a pic of part number and tag. Aloha, I have four crank casement windows purchased in 2002 at Home Depot, whose hardware has disintigrated because of the Hawaiian salt air. They are two left hand and two right hand windows. This piece allows double hung windows to be opened no more than a total of about 3 inches. In the ruler photo, the tiny piece broke from the back side of the curve at the bottom.
