35 year old window. Window will not open past 2 inches. Part is screwed in with a Philips screw.It is a vinyl window. It is stopped by this broken piece.

I am repairing a single hung window. I removed the channel balances, and they are not the same. No wonder why it broke. A single spring on a wide window is less than adequate in my mind. I would have preferred two springs, one on each side, I presume they should be weaker springs since there are two ... (cont.)

I received the parts today and I installed two of them. They fit just fine, but the springs seem to be weak and do not hold up the window. I'd need to return them back to Swisco and order the correct/better part. So what would you suggest? The info stamped on the old balance: 32-5 JD5 CMC 54 Than ... (cont.)
