Can you replace the string on an Andersen sash balance?

The strings have broken on 2 of my Anderson windows. These windows are seldom opened up since we have central air. What could be the cause of the strings coming loose? One is a large window and the other a small one. How do I know what size to order without taking the windows apart? Thank you for y ... (cont.)

My double hung windows are 38 years old and I have to replace the tensioner because the cords broke. There is no 3 didget number on the tensioner. There are only 2 sets of numbers: 11600-17 and T5 1231 1 88 What is the product number for a replacement? Thanks, Tom

Good morning, Can you tell me what balances I need to replace the original ones in my Andersen Narroline 200 series windows? The balances are stamped with T2 12#31 7 87. They are also stamped with 11600-17. The windows were installed around 1987. Thanks!
