Hello. I have 31 windows in my home. They are in fairly good condition, but the plastic pull tabs on the corner pieces are all breaking (see picture #1), and I can't pull the screens in. First, measure the metal part only, this will determine the balance length. Then, give us any numbers printed on the balance. Last, take a look at the balance shoes (attachments) and see if you can match them to a set Swisco carries (this will determine the balance series).

Are the 70-030 springs available in stainless steel?

We do have black tip window balances available but you need to pick out the series spiral balance first. Start at the beginning of the spiral balance catalog section to determine the series balance you need.

It appears that the window latch that I'm looking for is close to the 26-243. My latch has a guide on both sides that allows it slide in the slot to secure it but I noticed that this one only has one side made like that. You should be able to remove them from the sash. If you're uncertain, you may submit a photo of your application.

Take a look at S351-25, stamp option 2430. I have know the Series 351 balances to be used as replacement block and tackles for Gapco Windows. Gapco may have used other series balances as well so if this does not match up, please reply with some photos of your balance system for us to research. ... (cont.)
