I have non tilt double sash wood windows that are in good shape, albeit 30 yrs old. I need to replace the old balance springs but thought a spiral balance replacement would do the trick. Tips for Installing bracket 17-012
I've found your discussion board very helpful, but I couldn't find one bit of information. Are there any tricks to install the 17-012 bracket. It looks pretty obvious. Spring for Alwintite window
Hi, The house was built in 1954 and a brand name on the window says "C-Alwintite". One picture shows a spring which I cut to remove it, so a square shaped metal plug attached to the spiral that wedged into the bottom of the sash. The window are in north east Florida. Do I need Double hung or not with AC most of the time . We are doing a project for the Minnesota Historical Society and they want to replace all of the spiral spring balencers in a 1940's +/- cabin.
