This was purchased from Home Depot years ago. The locking mechanism inside the door has failed so it will not lock. Looking for a replacement. Any advice would be appreciated.

This handle needs replacing I think a broke piece of the latch may still be inside. I noticed while taking the photo that they put this on upside down. What do I do to replace this correctly? Or will I need to just put it back the way they installed it? It's a left hand open.
