At the risk of sounding totally stupid, when you place the pin into the frame, is the spring supposed to drop into the hole into the interior of the frame itself? Or is it supposed to stay on the outside, between the pin end and the frame?

Need Help Identifying Specs for Channel Window Balance
The attached photos are for a 1/2" channel balance that is 38" long. I have included pictures of the top and bottom ends, as well as the serial number on the channel itself. Type of pin metal?
What type of metal are these pins? I live in a coastal environment and the original pins for my Peachtree screens totally disintegrated in only 6 months. I purchased the plastic pins from a hardware store - the same type you have - and they are too short.

I was installing 2 S350-25 option 2420 . When I put window back in, the sash on right side is sticking out the top plastic part above the window. Not sure what to do.
