I need to replace several balances in my windows that have no marking and I do not know the manufacturer. The length of the tube is 27 7/8" and the diameter is 5/8". The spiral spring on my tilt in window is bad. It's 5/8 inch across and the length measured from the end where the screw holds it the beginning of blue tip is 28 3/8 inches. I' need to know which spring will meet my needs- the 28" or 29" ? Thank you for helping me out. Pete

We just bought a house that has the original Alcoa windows. The windows still look good besides they do not open very easily. We had someone look at them and he believes they need new springs put in and rebalanced. Do I just need to buy replacement balances for this?
