Hi, none of the 6 double hung vinyl windows in the house I just bought will stay open. The spiral is the same for all of them. 31" long, red tip, looks like the s400. In a few of the windows that I managed to force up, the red tip was shattered. There's grease everywhere. The windows are marked 198 ... (cont.)

First time replacing any type of window balance. The issue here is the window started becoming hard to open then one day it opened easily but just slams down if you let it. I believe the spiral balance is a blue tip and measure 31 1/2. The diameter is 5/8 with plastic cover. Without plastic cover is 3/8. Please advise.

I have 5 MW bottom tilt windows, house built in 1998, that need new spiral balances. The length of the balance top to bottom is 47.5" and the white cover over the coil is 31". I understand there is a tool to help install the balances and I would like that also.

Sash weight is 40 pounds. I believe my window balances are hybrid, but there is no information printed on any of them. Our windows are tilt-ins. The old balances (which look like S600's, have the same double-pin ends and go into a pivot shoe like the model 15-046) are 5/8" X 31", with green tips. My tube is vinyl instead of metal. It measures five eights nominally. length is 31 and the tip is green. Your site doesn't show a green tip as an option for the 31 inch 58 tube. not sure which one to buy.

I have a couple windows that need spring balances replaced. They are double hung and both tilt. The inside spring is 33" from top of screw hole to blue tip and the outside is 31" hole to blue tip. Swisco-These double hung, tilt in white windows (5 per unit x 20 units) have a Stainless Steel spiral (3/8") balance (missing the plastic straw/tube like spiral cover).The length from end to inside the yellow end measures 30.5" length. Will we need the 31" or 30" length.thxDoug
