The spiral mechanism I removed is enclosed in a white plastic tube. The tube length is 25 inches and the width is 3/8 inch. Does it really matter whether I use series 600 or series 900 balances? The 900 series looks stronger in the picture. I understand the 900 series has a smaller diameter but does that matter? I am going to order blue bushings. Thanx

Click on the 'Spiral Balance' section in our sash support replacement hardware catalog. From there follow the steps to determine the proper replacement balance. Swisco is located in New Jersey.

Old balance is half rod and half heavy spring. Top half is rod and bottom is spring. Total length is 24 1/2" to blue bushing. I replaced it with a 24" solid rod, but it is not long enough. With window in the closed position, I have 1 1/4" gap at bottom of window. Do I need a 25" rod or 26"? ... (cont.)
