S745-26 26-1/4" Peachtree Balance

Has anything been done to improve the quality of the spring? It is the weak point in the design and they break frequently. Also most of my windows are 70-72" tall and they have never slid without a lot of effort (binding). Any reason why and how can I adjust or correct this?

I want to order a new balance for my windows. Measurements: width is around 34, and the height of the window is around 58, each sliding part being around 29 inches tall. One website told me to buy PEACHTREE ARIEL 25-1/4-4 CHANNEL BALANCE, 3660 NON-TILT WINDOW. I?m wondering if that is correct and if ... (cont.)

I ordered the wrong size balances (S745-26 [25.25-4] and S745-32 [31.25-4]), the springs in the new balances are longer than the old ones and the cord might be too short when the balance is put in the window , see picture .I may have used the wrong weight of the window when I chose them I' d like to ... I have many Peachtree windows that don't work. They were installed in 1988. Peachtree did a recall a few years later and sent someone out to fix - I think what the guy did was replace all the balances. A couple weeks ago, i received from swisco4 balances. When installing today, 2 of the little plastic parts that insert into the top cracked when I was trying to pull them. I need new balances for my Peachtree windows. Attached are two photos. The lengths and model number stamped on the back of the old balances are clearly visible. In case you cant read photos, the # on back of the 20-1/4" balance is 3648 and the # on back of the 26-1/4" balance is 3060D. ... (cont.)

Hi I have Peachtree double-hung non-tilt windows with the balance length of 26 1/4" marked "3660-1" for a window 34" wide x 29"H each pane assy. It seems that the S745-26 is the correct balance. -Thanks Norm
