Yes, the 58-053 is intended to be inserted in a preexisting groove, not mounted flat on the window.

My Windsor wood casement windows have a groove around all 4 sides, but only the top and sides have this type of weather stripping installed. (some dont have any weather striping at all). I have a Acorn Dorwal sliding glass door. I have the weather stripping but can't figure out how to replace (remove) the weather stripping that is attached to the door and not the frame. Any quick suggestions?
