help to replace broken coil

broken coil has 6CH laser etched on it. the balance has 6.. also included tags that were attached to the window

Cannot figure out how to release tension on spring or keep it in low position, so that I can re-attach metal rail on bottom of window to pivot boot on spring. Also, I believe spring may be damaged, as pivot boot will not pivot. Cannot find a replacement spring and don't know what this kind of spring ... (cont.)
