Can you tell me if the key cylinder in your Keyed Handle Set, Acorn Product Code: 82-055K could be removed and replaced with a Schlage cylinder?

Sliding glass door lock installed in early 80's looks just like your 82-055K Keyed Handle Set by Acorn except my overall measurement is 7 1/2 inches long on the inside piece and screw holes are 4 1/4" centers. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Nina

I have the 82-055K for a 1-1/8"-thick door, as recommended by our locksmith. Is the cylinder designed to be filed down to accommodate this width?

I placed an order on 5/25/2013 . It was for two(2) part number # 82-055K. When I went to replace the outside handle of the handle set, the outside handle holes did not line up.
