I believe it's used to center/stabilize the window. One picture shows it missing, the other it's installed.

I have received my order, but the mortise lock face plate is not the same. The one you sent has an mounting plate that is all in one with the lock face, and is brass in color. Mine has a removal plate and is white. (See photos). The mounting holes to the door on the new one line up, and I think ... (cont.)

I can not find any identification marks on these doors or the hardware. They are impact glass and were installing in about 2015. I've had several handles fail and need to replace. Any help here will be much appreciated. Thanks! C

Can you identify this part? The door was made by Sierra Pacific Industries. We purchased the doors in 2002. According to their current reps "it is old GU hardware they no longer make to fit our old doors". Is there a compatible replacement part?

so in order for someone to have A/C through the summer, they ripped up the inside window trim and quite forcibly removed the handle and window opening apparatus. I just want to know the best way to reinstall the part?
