The latch mechanism has a broken spring and we need to replace the mechanism. The only identifying number was the patent #3599654.

Can you tell me which mortise lock I need? The original unit has been removed so I don?t have an original to match. The opening is nearly 4.5inches and the width is nearly 3/4 of an inch with the depth of 1.5 inches.

I need a mortise lock with 3 9/16" installation hole centers. My lock is identical in design to your item #82-226 Mortise Lock 4 5/8", only smaller. From end to end, the lock is 4 5/8" in length (unlike your #82-226 that is 6 1/8" in length), but the hole centers are only 3 9/16", unlike your item ... (cont.)

RE the 82-226. Can the turning lever be adjusted so that it is vertical when locked and at 3 o clock when unlocked.

The photo shows my door, but it appears there is a cover plate missing that covers the latch assembly and extends beyond the length of the latch assembly. Greetings, This glass door was apparently installed back in 1995 and as you can see the part where the lock latches to the wall has fallen/broken off.
