The photo shows the number on the bottom sash but I haven't been able to get a good picture of the strip on the upper sash. Hi, I'm stuck. I can't figure out how to tilt out the sash to get to the pivot shoe. I believe the spring snapped, and the spring that remains attached to the pivot shoe has so much tension on it, that I can't pry it up enough to angle out the sash. We have 13 Certainteed double hung windows that will not open or close so perhaps the balance springs need to be replaced.
