Hello, I have some pretty old windows (installed in '89) and I'm looking to replace the spiral balance and pivot shoes. The balances themselves have this coil wrapped around them but the metal tube itself is 3/8". I'm assuming I would go with th3 3/8" spiral balance but then I didn't see any with a ... (cont.)

The spring inside of my spiral tilt window balance broke. I measure the rod and it was 3/8in and rod was 28.5. Would that be 29 or 28in rod? Should I replace both of them.

I?m just curious, if there is a normal known life cycle for spiral balance in a typical home with vinyl windows? I am not sure what this part is called, though it may be the pivot shoe. It holds the spiral balance rod at the bottom of the window track. The windows were installed in 1997 and most are still functioning well. I have about four that have a similar problem throughout the house.Thank you for your ... (cont.)

Hi, I would like to replace the balances on my single hung tilt window. They are the spiral type measuring at 28.5 inches from top to bottom,excluding anything beyond the tube portion, only the actual tube was measured. I think the diameter is 3/8". Found Pella name on window latch. I need parts one window has 28 inch tubes with plastic covers and blue ends. One window has 22 7/8 inch spring tubes with blue ends, I need shoes for these windows that appear to 1/2 inch X 1 1/2 X 2 1/8 and 4 axles. Can you help?

I am replacing my spiral balances because they have failed on 2 of my windows. This issue is they continually come free from the pivot shoe, which is a locking pivot. These photos are from one window - left and right side. They were very tight to get out and I had to really push them. I'm thinking that theywere possible oversized replacements. The original wondows ( picture attached) were installed in 1981. Thanks for any help.
