S600-29 29" Series 600 Spiral Tilt Window Balance

I replaced the spiral balances in two of my windows and they are still not holding the window up properly. The spiral balances that I took out were red tip and I replaced them with a blue tip, which should be able to support more weight, but it didnt. Should I try the black tip?

I have Better Built windows, at least thats the name. I got some of the new plastic pieces that slide up and down in the frame that the ballancer attaches to from you a few months ago (15-045). The metal tube lenght is 28.5 inches. The diameter is 3/8 of a inch. There is a vinyl tube over metal tube. On the window lock it said Acorn. Thank You. Randy

I have a client with Acorn slide up windows and need replacement parts for same. I have attached pictures of the tilt out side rod mechanisms and I see on you web page similar rod mechanisms but no similar nylon bottom pieces that the pivot pins on the window can fit into. I have a vinyl tilt out window that has pivot pins that are rusted completely off. I cannot remove them to identify. Can you help with replacement. I am located in Toms River and am willing to drive there with the window and pick up the parts.

I measured the length of the balance spring tube from end to just before the blue color tip and it's 28.25". See attached photo. The sash weighs 22.5 lbs and the tube is 5/8". My spiral balances have tube construction on top and spiral spring construction on lower half. Both are covered in in white plastic cover tube. Length measures 28 1/2 inch. Tip color is blue. We have several windows (1995, no idea manufacture) that won't stay up. Have attempted to charge them and increase tension with little to no success. Cannot find exact match for replacement balance. I have replaced spiral balances and windows still seem hard to open and close. Is any lubricant or cleaning solution recommended? Is the next logical step to replace the "shoe" that rides in the track? what do you recommend. thanks, john

isuccessfully installed the 15 046 and the s600 29 in my window project but the pivot bars are completely rusted away. They are attached to the window with a single screw,into an adjusting slot. the old 15 046 matched the new ones perfectly. can you suggest new pivot bars that will work with this ... (cont.)

WHEN WE FIRST HAD THE NEW VINYL WINDOWS INSTALLED 10 YEARS AGO WE COULD OPEN AND CLOSE THEM WITH TWO FINGERS, NOW YOU HAVE TO USE BOTH HANDS AND REALY PUSH HARD TO OPEN AND SHUT THEM. I am replacing the spiral springs on my sash windows and don't know what colour of spring to purchase. Each window is supported by two springs of diameter 9/16" and length 29". Each window weighs approximately 25 lbs on my bathroom scale. Thanks for your help. Mary Ann

HI, I have two tilting windows. For the first, the four shoes seem to be broken, the spiral balances have disconnected from the broken shoes. The metal parts in the shoes are broken.
