this double hung window has a spring ballance with the spring exposed. The spring is screwed into the top of the channel and attaches to the shoe at the bottom, see pic. We have found one of our window channels were broken during a home inspection. The numbers on it are 32C OJ BSI.

Pic-1 1705 shows the old channel balancer 28" with a groove at the tilt shoe end --- which makes it unsuitable for the 15-194.
