S600-30 30" Series 600 Spiral Tilt Window Balance

I bought spiral balances for my windows and they are not holding up the windows. The originals were orange and that's what I got. I called earlier and I was asked to send in the weight . It's 16 lbs and the they slip down . I even spun the sprinters tighter but still skips down. Any suggestions ? ... (cont.)

The diameter is 5/8 of an inch. The length is 30 inches. The problem with my window is that is I open it it won't stay opened it will just fall back down to become shut again. I have a non tilt slide window.

My window wont stay up. Do i need to replace the balances or just tighten them up?

I have three lower sashes this size that need both balances, and one lower sash that is 6" shorter. I may need your device to spread the vinyl window slot that the shoe rides in. The picture is not very good. Steve S

After watching your videos (which were a great help by the way) I decided to weigh my sashes before ordering new spiral balances and they came in at 29.8 lbs. Don't know brand name vinyl windows. They are double hung, tilt, vinyl frame. Weight of sash is approx 18 lbs. Spiral balances tube size is 30" length and appear to be 5/8" (600 series). Hi - i'm looking to replace a tube balance (or maybe a pair) in a window that keeps sliding down. the tube is 29 1/2 inches long, and has a blue tip. Should i submit a photo or is that enough information? Thanks.

Swisco, i'm not sure if I need to replace my balance springs or not. My windows were put in June, 2005. They are extremely hard to open and close throughout the entire house.
